Microsoft recently revealed at the 2009 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show that Windows Media Center has over 13 million unique users every month. While no other data was provided to put that number into perspective, it’s still impressive.
Microsoft credits content like NBC Olympics last summer, as well as sports and news services, with the number of people consuming content on the PC. I don’t know if this content is enough to draw that many people but being able to watch TV on the PC seems to have come to the forefront lately and people are realizing the Media Center is built in and ready to go.
While 13 million people using Media Center is impressive, Microsoft’s MediaRoom IPTV service is about to cross a milestone of it’s own. The company revealed at the same time that the service will reach the 3 million subscriber point next month and that it has doubled in the last year. This makes Microsoft the largest worldwide provider of IPTV software.
