If you’ve been using Media Center for any length of time you probably have found the plugins that work for you. For movies and archived television I use Media Browser and Michael Healy of Hack7MC has posted how you can get rid of the standard movies strip that comes with 7MC and replace it with Media Browser. There’s some registry editing to be done but Michael has most of the heavy lifting and provided the files you’ll need.
From the post:
Once you’ve successfully taken ownership of the ehres.dll file and applied the patch file included in the download zip you can now use the registry files included in the options folder of the zip to modify whether or not the movies strip is enabled. As well as turn on or off the new Media Browser Movies strip. To both enable the new movies strip and disable the old native movies strip apply the “Add Media Browser Strip and Remove Movies.reg” file to your registry.
To be honest, I’m not real comfortable editing, but with the files provided, Michael has made it easy. Thanks for another great hack!
