One would think that with the Indianapolis 500 being run this Sunday that the rest of the racing world would be pretty quiet. If you thought that, as I did, you are sorely mistaken. Along with the Indy cars running at the famed “Brickyard” Formula 1, its junior series Gp2, NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide, American Le Mans, Australian V8 Supercars, and the Grand Am Rolex series all have races airing this weekend! Friday starts of quiet with only the final practice session from Turkey for the Formula 1 boys. Saturday is when things really start to get crazy! Speed has qualifying and practice coverage for Formula 1, NASCAR Sprint Cup, and NASCAR Nationwide Series along with the Australian V8 Supercar race at 5:00pm. CBS is airing the American Le Mans race from Laguna Seca that actually took place last weekend, and ABC has the NASCAR Nationwide series race at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday is another big day with Speed showing the GP2 and Formula 1 races from Turkey back-to-back starting at 6:00 a.m. Then ABC has the Indianapolis 500 at 1:00 p.m. Fox rounds out the coverage for the day carrying the NASCAR Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 at 5:30 p.m. With the holiday weekend, and probably due to the already crowded motorsports schedule, the Rolex Series is running at Lime Rock on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on Speed.
