All the News from Inside Xbox from XO19

Today Microsoft held a special Inside Xbox from XO19. They already told us not to expect any Scarlett (the next-generation Xbox which is due out holiday 2020) news, but there were a lot of other announcements! The show mainly focused on Project xCloud and new games coming to Xbox through Xbox Game Pass.

Project xCloud Updates

Project xCloud is Microsoft’s attempt at a game streaming service. It started rolling out in beta to users last month. It’s still only available to stream through Android devices, but they do plan to launch on other devices including Windows PCs and iPhone/iPad when the service is generally available in 2020.

Project xCloud launched with only five titles, but today Microsoft announced they are expanding the list to 50 games! To put that in perspective, Google’s Stadia game streaming service launches next week with only 12 games. It just goes to show what can happen when a company that has been heavily invested in gaming for over 15 years tries to start a new service versus when a search engine/web advertisement company tries the same thing. The complete list of Project xCloud games is below.

Xbox Game Pass Announcements

Xbox Game Pass was the other primary focus of Inside Xbox from XO19. We’ve been singing the praises of Microsoft’s game subscription service for months. At $9.99/month it is potentially the greatest deal in gaming. The library already has over 100 games in it, and whenever a new title is launched from an Xbox Game Studios developer it is available on Game Pass immediately. Today they announced some huge series, especially big if you’re into Japanese games, coming to the service soon.

Ten Final Fantasy games are coming to Xbox through Game Pass. The list is essentially comprised of the latest versions of all the mainline single-player games starting with Final Fantasy VII. The complete list of Final Fantasy games is:

  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered
  • Final Fantasy IX
  • Final Fantasy X: HD Remastered
  • Final Fantasy X-2: HD Remastered
  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
  • Final Fantasy XIII
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2
  • Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
  • Final Fantasy XV

While Final Fantasy may be the most popular series that fans have been clamoring for, the Yakuza series also has a huge fanbase. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will all be coming to Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft also said that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (seriously, is there a series in all of media that comes up with more ridiculous names than Kingdom Hearts?) are coming to Xbox. All these titles will be coming in 2020.

Halo Reach, Darksiders III, My Friend Pedro (previously a Switch console exclusive) are among some of the titles coming to Game Pass this holiday season.

Other Game Announcements

There were Black Friday deals announced at Inside Xbox from XO19 for lots of Xbox hardware, but they are starting a deal today on Xbox Game Pass where you can score three months of Game Pass Ultimate for $1. In addition, you’ll get one month of EA Access, three months of Discord Nitro, and six months of Spotify Premium.

There were other games announced from Rare and Obsidian, and lots of trailers for games coming out in 2020. For all the rest of the details you can read their complete breakdown over here.
