PrintWelcome to episode 103 of The Big Show!  We’re joined again this week by James Montemagno of RevoHTPC.  Like last week’s show, we run a bit long but hopefully you enjoy it.  You’ll find links below for all of the information we discuss.

While it wasn’t intended when we started this week, we did get into quite a heated discussion.  We’d love to hear what you think after you’ve had a chance to listen.  Be sure and use our contact page or call our toll free number and leave a message.  We enjoy hearing from our listeners and this week even more so!

  • I sent a voicemail for you guys. It's a little long so not sure if you'll want to play it all on the show. In short, SageTV's more frequent release cycle is good for 3 reasons:
    1. More features more often
    2. Bugs and/or issues of users get addressed
    3. Requests of plugin developer community can be granted in between major releases
Yes there are a lot of minor updates during a beta cycle, but that doesn't mean everyone has to install them each time. It give YOU the user more control instead of being at the mercy of the company…

Also wanted to agree with Josh (had to agree somewhere right?) that many SageTV users would LOVE to have CableCard as an option. More options are better for sure. There are plenty of things SageTV offers that MC doesn't so you have to look at both sides of that though.

Keep up the great work on the show guys!
