Hauppauge has finally released native support for its HD-PVR, a high definition video capture device, for use with Windows Media Center. Up until now the only way to use the device in Media Center was through third party software from DVB Logic. Hauppauge has released this driver as a Beta, so your mileage may vary.
One of the major limitations of the driver currently is that it only only supports using one HD-PVR per Media Center. I would imagine that this will change by the time the driver is officially released. Of course, at over $200 per HD-PVR, plus the rental fee of the set-top-box to which it needs to be attached, the total cost of ownership can increase at a pretty alarming rate if you were to add four of these to your system.
Head on over to Hauppauge’s site for the driver download and thorough installation instructions.
