Today was Microsoft’s annual sales meeting, and in it Steven Sinofsky finally gave us the date we’ve all been waiting to hear: Windows 8 will be released to the public on Friday, October 26th. That means that in just over three months we’ll all be able to get our grubby little paws on a copy of the new operating system from our favorite retailers. It also means that the Surface RT tablet should go on sale that same day. So while I don’t expect to see many Windows 8 launch parties, we could potentially see people lining up to purchase Microsoft’s flagship tablet.
