It’s that time of year again—time for the event formerly known as the Consumer Electronics Show, held by the organization formerly known as the Consumer Electronics Association! (It’s now just called CES, and it’s held by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).) We’re here as usual, and it’s going to be a busy week.
This year’s show is held Wednesday, January 6 through Saturday, January 9, and as always, it’s in Las Vegas. The press events start as early as today, Monday, January 4, and events tonight and tomorrow will start a flood of information from CES. We’ll be doing our best to keep up, and you can follow all of our CES coverage at The Digital Media Zone filed under CES 2016 on the site and on Twitter @digimediazone.
This year should prove interesting for movement in connected home, virtual and augmented reality, media distribution, and audio/video technologies. We’re particularly interested in seeing if some of the immersive audio (like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X) and video (like 4K) products are getting more affordable yet. If you didn’t catch our discussion with CNET’s Rich Brown about CES on Home: On, you should check that out before the show starts.
