Microsoft today finally revealed pricing details for its Surface Pro line of tablets.
A 64GB version of the Windows 8 Pro tablet will run $899, including a stylus pen. For $999 you can bump it up to a 128GB storage option. It’s worth noting the neither of the announced pricing packages includes either the Touch or Type keyboard covers.
Microsoft did not reveal any further details on release dates today, so we’re still left with “January” as the release timeframe. Full specs are available at Microsoft’s Surface Web site, but basically you’re getting a 10.6 inch 1080p tablet with a Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM. No info on pre-order information was revealed.
From early returns, it seems most people are comparing the Surface Pro to the 11-inch MacBook Air. The Air starts at $999 and does not feature a touchscreen or 1080p, but, obviously, it does contain a keyboard, something that will be vitally important for the Surface Pro to be a viable laptop replacement.
