HyperX Announces Cloud Alpha Wireless Gaming Headset with 300-hour Battery

HyperX Announces Cloud Alpha Wireless Gaming Headset with 300-hour Battery

HyperX has long been known for making some of the most comfortable gaming headsets on the market. Today at CES, they announced the Cloud Alpha Wireless gaming headset that will run for 300 hours on a single charge.

The HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless appears to be a follow-up to the Cloud II Wireless headset. Our first concern with the increased battery life was weight. It’s easy to increase battery life by putting bigger batteries into a device. Fortunately, the new headset is only about 20g heavier than Cloud II Wireless. HyperX says the new Cloud Alpha Wireless maintains all the comfort and sound quality of the Cloud Alpha line. They say it was possible by utilizing “new-and-improved, custom-designed Dual Chamber Technology and HyperX 50mm Drivers that feature a slimmer, lighter design.” It also supports DTS® Headphone:X® for virtual 3D audio.

The headset uses a detachable noise-canceling microphone so that you can remove it during solo play. There is a mute button on the ear cup that will illuminate the tip of the microphone for a visual indicator that you are muted. The headset also has microphone monitoring to keep you from talking too loudly.

The headset uses a 2.4 GHz USB dongle for its wireless connection. It takes 4.5 hours to recharge it via USB-C.

You can use the Cloud Alpha Wireless headset with PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Sorry Xbox gamers! The HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless headset should be out in February. You’ll be able to pick it up for $199.
