Entertainment 2.0-Episode 72: The Takeover Begins!

Ent20logo2 While we were unable to get a live show out this week due to scheduling issues, Episode 72 is ready for you but it’s not the Entertainment 2.0 you’re used to.  Just as there were scheduling problems on Wednesday, Thursday was the same but luckily, James Montemagno of RevoHTPC and Seen in 3D was able to fill in for Adam.  Don’t get used to it though as he’ll return next week!

Josh and James take time to roll through several topics for Ep. 72 and you’re sure to be entertained.  Along with email, you’ll hear about Toshiba’s newest entry into the home theater market.  Specifically a TV that is Windows 7 and DLNA compliant.  As well, the guys give a rundown of the Tivo Premier.  They also roll on what they’d like to see in Windows 8’s version of Media Center.  It’s a good list so be sure and listen all the way through.

Click here to grab episode 72!

Keep the emails and voicemail coming!  I want something to argue with Josh about during next week’s return and live show!

Don’t forget, you have until April 28th to secure your chance to win a Ceton InfiniTV 4 from Dragon Global.  Just head here and follow the contest rules.  We’ll be helping announce the winner during our last show in April!

  • Josh, I love hearing about your setup to get the mp4 files to your phone. Very impressive.
    I have just spent the better part of 1.5 months working with getting WTV files into my iPhone and have found NUMEROUS pitfalls. Whenever I try to move HD content to mp4 using that Convert to iPhone profile I get audio sync problems more than half of the time. Apparently there is a problem with (29.97 fps vs. 30.00 fps??? I don't know how to fix this). All of the other iPod and iPhone profiles either crash in DTB or produce audio sync problems, too. Same with Handbrake. I have no problems with SD content, BTW.

    The only thing I have found to work with HD content is:
    * Convert WTV to DVRMS,
    * Run the “Cut Commericals out of DVRMS, and output DVR-MS” profile,
    * DVR-MS to MP4 application.

    Getting files onto the iPhone is VERY difficult, as iTunes likes to backup the whole phone, a 10+ minute extravaganza, seemingly every time I plug up. The best solution here that I have found is to use AirSharing on the iPhone which causes it to appear as a network folder from my computer. I set up Windows' Task Scheduler to move all .mp4 files to the mapped network drive at 7:05am every morning, but this target drive only appears if AirSharing is active on the iPhone. So, when I wake up and turn my iPhone docking alarm clock off at 6:59, I have to remember to launch my AirSharing app on the iPhone or I'll miss the transfer.

    See? Doesn't Apple make your life easy?…(Can't wait for my contract to run out so I can get an Android phone.)
