The flu has taken its toll on Seen in HD and The HD Sportsman this week, so here’s a brief look at both.
HD Sportsman –
The highlight is of course the Winter Olymics starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. on NBC and running for the better part of the next two weeks. In lieu of trying to show everything that’s being covered (I believe more than 1,000 hours this year?), we’ll highlight the big games as they come up. Basically, all NBC networks will be Olympics for the next two weeks.
Elsewhere:
- A huge Big Ten battle in East Lansing Tuesday night on ESPN at 9 p.m. as MSU hosts Purdue.
- A rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference playoff battle when Orlando heads to Cleveland Thursday at 8 p.m. on TNT.
- One of the earliest Gold Medal finals Saturday on NBC at 2 p.m. with the men’s speed skating.
- Figure skating kicks off Sunday at 7 p.m. on NBC with pairs short program.
Seen in HD
Of note this week are the February 16 release dates, featuring The Dirty Harry Collection and Goodfellas: 20th Anniversary Edition and not much else.
Big news on the Blu-ray front as Paramount has announced Saving Private Ryan will be released on May 4 as part of the Sapphire Series. Will it go the way of Gladiator (boo!) or Braveheart (yay!)?
Back next week with originally scheduled programming.
