While none of us want to wait for the Ceton Multi-tuner/single card CableCard solution to hit the market, it seems that the company is really taking their time to make sure that this is going to be a “buy, install, just works” product.
Erkotz, a member of The Green Button, has posted a thread claiming that he has been using a prototype of the Ceton tuner for right around four months now and is extremely happy. If you take a look at the thread, Erkotz takes time to answer questions as well as give us some insight on how seriously Ceton is taking this hardware. He’s basically beating on the card as hard as possible so that he can report problems and the company can fix any issues before the retail release.
One of the questions had to deal with the DRM of the card and according to Erkotz, he’s able to play non-flagged recordings on other computers around his home meaning that Media Center is handling the content flagging and that the tuner isn’t simply locking down all recordings.
People have already asked a ton of other questions so if you’re interested in getting as much info as possible (not including pricing unfortunately!) head over and read the already three page thread on TGB.
Thanks to Ogre on Twitter for the head’s up!
