If you have a home full of Bang &Olufsen gear but you’re still using that cheap $10 Wal-mart alarm clock, it’s time for an upgrade. Why not wake up to music everywhere?
The Bang and Olufsen Beotime Alarm Clock looks as strange as the pronunciation makes it seem but the company has designed a sleep/wake device that will not only let you control other B&O devices throughout your home but will make visitors ask questions when they see it.
Built for simplicity and good looks, the designer was thinking of Mozart’s The Magic Flute when he designed the device. Looking more like a musical instrument than an alarm clock, the Beotime has three square displays which are dark text on a bright background. Two of the squares are used to display the time while the third displays the alarm status and menu. You navigate the menus by using a fourth square which provides all of the functions. Oh, and it’s a tilt device so the time is displayed correctly no matter if the Beotime is on your nightstand or hanging in the wall mounted holding device. Also, since the device has a built in motion sensor, the backlighting comes on just by picking it up making it easy to check the time at night.
The B&O alarm clock doesn’t necessarily fit here on The DMZ but it will control other B&O gear in your home and after seeing it, I just had to throw it up here. Available in August direct from Bang and Olufsen and starting at $375, it’s certainly something you’ll want to think about before buying.
