Portable Media Player or Netbook-You Choose

ARCHOS-9-Intro

Another Archos story and I have to admit, the company looks to be blurring the line between netbooks and PMPs.

While it’s not available yet, the newly announced Archos 9pctablet just looks sexy.  The company has dropped the keyboard from the netbook design and what you’re left with is a highly portable tablet PC that, with Windows 7, should be able to playback all of your content.  Portable Media Center anyone?

The Archos 9pctablet comes with an Intel Atom Z515 processor, an 80GB HDD, Bluetooth and includes two antennas for DVBT television reception.  Talk about stepping up in the portable TV arena.  This is just a tad more advanced than that old 9” black and white you used to take to the football game for tailgating.

The device hasn’t been announced in the US yet but I’m really hoping it makes it’s way here.  I could see myself using this throughout the house as well as on the road with Windows 7 internet streaming.

  • I have an Archos 605 now. Not the prettiest of devices but I love that fact that I can steam media from my server. I get all my audio and SD video but not recorded TV. This new device would be very cool if it supports all of the Win 7 media streaming features, which it should. If there is output to tv, even better.
