Well we’ve finally received word that Windows 7 is going to cost you just about as much as Windows Vista did just three years ago. Ed Bott published the prices on his blog over at ZDNet today and I have to say that while I’m not surprised, I am a little disappointed.
With Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade starting at $120US I’d have to say that Apple has the upper hand price-wise by pusing Snow Leopard out at $29 for an upgrade from Leopard. I can certainly understand MS’s reasons but given our current economy as well as the shorter turn around time since Vista, I was really hoping for a lower starting point.
Head over to Ed’s blog at ZDNet for the full pricing scheme as well as information on the differences between the versions of Windows 7.
