Sherwood NetBoxx Uses PlayOn Server to Stream ‘Net Content

146309-Sherwood_s_NetBoxx Sherwood America has begun shipping their NetBobxx 7.1 Internet Receiver.  For $649.95 you too can stream content from YouTube, CNN, CBS, Rhapsody, Amazon VoD and several other services using a PlayOn Media Server.  As well, you get the ability to stream pictures, music and video (720p) from PCs throughout your home.

The R-904N NetBoxx features Dolby Volume, Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats.  You also get the option to playback content in a second room.  The CE device comes with three HDMI 1.3 inputs, two component inputs, a toslink optical port and two coaxial digital audio inputs.

The device is fully DLNA and UPNP compliant so getting that PC content should be relatively simple for most people.  Sherwood has gone to great lengths to make the Netboxx easy to setup by including an “Auto Setup” mode which will use a VuNow module which will locate and setup network access for the user with very little input.
