Watch the Olympics on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8

The 22nd Winter Olympics start tonight in Sochi Russia. If you’re in the US you don’t have to miss any of the action if you’re a Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 user! NBC has released the NBC Sports Live Extra app for both of our favorite platforms! The apps provide live, real-time video coverage, along with replays, and special short-form videos.

  • Live Events: watch marquee NBC Olympics events LIVE!
  • Video on Demand: access short-form video clips to preview upcoming events and check out highlights from past events
  • Full Event Replays: relive all the great moments with full event replays
  • Online coverage schedule: browse the online listings schedule and set event reminders
There are unfortunately a couple of downsides to the apps. First, if you’re not in the US you’re out of luck. Secondly, if you’re a cord-cutter, you’re also going to be left searching for an alternative source. These apps both require you to be authenticated through your pay-TV provider via TV Everywhere. Get the apps below.
