This Week on Netflix – Food Inc

This Week on Netflix - Food IncThis week on Netflix, I’m recommending another documentary. This one is called Food, Inc. Politically, I’ll be honest, it’s pretty liberal, but that doesn’t detract from the facts that are presented, and it really gets you thinking about how our system is setup. It covers the shrinking of small farmers using their own seed being forced out by the large corporations using their genetically superior product, but at what cost to genetic diversity? Some good points are discussed as it takes you through the US’s Oligarchy of food corporations that feed most of the word. It’s no doubt, that without these large companies, we wouldn’t see the population boom we’ve had in the world, but what are the side effects? Also, should we be selling corn subsidized below cost, so that unhealthy products, like high fructose corn syrup, can keep the cost of Coca-Cola down, or should we be subsidizing healthier alternatives?
