Migrate Your Disney Movies Anywhere Collection by February 28

Movies Anywhere logoThe team behind Disney Movies Anywhere launched Movies Anywhere back in October, adding Warner Bros., Fox, Sony and Universal Pictures to the movie library “federation” service. Buy or redeem a digital movie from Google, Apple, Amazon, or VUDU, and it will also be added to your links accounts in the other services.

Now that the new Movies Anywhere service has been around and operational for a while, Disney Movies Anywhere will be shutting down on February 28. If you have a Disney Movies Anywhere account, be sure to sign up for or sign into Movies Anywhere within the next two weeks and transfer your Disney Movies Anywhere library.

The transfer process is pretty simple. If you register for a Movies Anywhere account with the same email address you used for Disney Movies Anywhere, you’ll be prompted to transfer your collection automatically. If you missed that or used a different address, just go to Settings. Under “Manage Retailers” [when will the industry realize that label makes no sense to most consumers?], you’ll see Disney Movies Anywhere with an option to “Import Library.” On the Movies Anywhere site, there’s even an “Import your DMA Account” option in your account menu.

If you miss the opportunity to migrate your library before the end of the month, all is not lost. You’ll still be able to link and synchronize your movies from the participating studios in your iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Video, and VUDU accounts through Movies Anywhere.
